***with apologies for cross posting***

We are happy to announce that *Open Quaternary*, the only gold open-access
journal for Quaternary science, has published its inaugural issue. To
celebrate, we've also designed a new website to make reading & submitting
articles that much easier at *openquaternary.com
<http://openquaternary.com>*.

Our launch issue features an editorial and three publications that we feel
capture a range of offerings in the research & methods paper categories:

"Population density and genetic diversity in the Pleistocene cave lion" by
Erik Ersmark *et al*.

"neotoma: A programmatic interface to the Neotoma Palaeoecological
Database" by Simon Goring *et al*.

"Estimating the age and season of death for wild equids: A comparison of
techniques utilising a sample from the Late Neolithic site of Bad
Buchau-Dullenried, Germany" by Haskel Greenfield *et al.*

A public engagement paper and data paper currently in press will follow to
complete the issue. In addition, papers are now being submitted and
reviewed for our first special collection, arising out of a session at the
International Council for Archaeozoology (ICAZ) conference in Argentina
last year.

We hope that you enjoy the issue!
