The National Park Service - Sierra Nevada Network is hiring several 
biological science technician positions for a joint wetlands-lakes 
monitoring crew.

We will be hiring positions at the GS-5,6, and 7 levels. We anticipate 
the positions starting in May and ending by early October. 

GS-5: Work will take place in Sequoia, Kings Canyon and Yosemite 
National Parks and Devils Postpile National Monument (California). The 
incumbents will work on a combined wetlands and lakes monitoring crew 
collecting field data for one or both of these monitoring projects. The 
majority of work will take place in the field in remote, backcountry 
locations with overnight camping and travel required. A smaller 
component of the work will be in the office transferring data, 
organizing gear and samples, and debriefing with project leads. These 
positions are temporary with full-time work schedules.

position will spend half the season as a member of the wetlands 
monitoring crew and half the season as the crew lead for SIEN's lake 
monitoring crew. The majority of work will take place in the field in 
remote, backcountry locations with overnight camping and travel

transferring data, organizing gear and samples, and debriefing with 
project leads. These positions are temporary with full-time work 
schedules.

GS-7:  Work will take place in Devil's Postpile National Monument, 
Sequoia, Kings Canyon, and Yosemite National Parks (California).  The 
position will serve as the field crew lead to implement a recently 
developed long-term monitoring protocol for evaluating wetland 
ecological integrity using multiple indicators including plants, macro 
invertebrates, and groundwater hydrology. The majority of work will take 
place in the field in remote, backcountry locations with overnight 
camping and travel required. A minor component of the work will be in 
the office, periodically transferring data and updating the network’s 
ecologist on accomplishments and impediments. This position will be 
supervised by the network’s ecologist, and is temporary with full-time 
work schedules.
