I have a funded project to support an MS graduate student in Tropical Plant
Pathology graduate program, Dept. of Plant and Environmental Protection
Sciences, University of Hawaii at Manoa. The student will mainly work on a
research project to explore non-chemical soil solarization approach for
weed, pathogen, and insect pest control in warm-season turfgrass system.
Research will include both field and laboratory experiments as required by
the project. This project also has an outreach component, and the student
will occasionally interact with green/turf professionals.

The candidate must hold a BS degree (or must have completed the
requirements at the time of admission) in biology, ecology, agriculture, or
other closely related field. Experience with identification of weeds,
pathogens and insects preferred.

The MS assistantship is at $20,472/year, with tuition fully covered plus
health insurance benefits. Position will start in Fall semester 2015. The
