The IUCN/SSC Chameleon Specialist Group (CSG) (
http://iucn.org/chameleonspecialists/) has launched a crowdfunding effort
to raise money for a survey of the habitat of a chameleon species that was
recently assessed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List of
Threatened Species (http://www.iucnredlist.org/details/172568/0). This
assessment revealed that Chapman's chameleon (*Rhampholeon chapmanorum*) was
last seen during a 1998 survey and that its habitat has been reduced to two
small forest patches totaling only 0.6 sq km.

The CSG plans to conduct a survey of the forest to determine if the species
still survives there, and to assess whether the forest is healthy enough to
support the population. Further, the CSG also intends to collaborate with
regional experts to engage the Malawian government to assist in carrying
out resultant recommendations to protect this species and its remaining
habitat. In order to achieve these goals, however, the CSG needs to raise
money to support this survey.

We would greatly appreciate assistance is spreading the word about this
fundraising effort, as well as any donations made to it. Please visit the
crowdfunding page for this project for additional information:
