The Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science, Inc.
(CUAHSI) (www.cuahsi.org<http://www.cuahsi.org>) is seeking a Director for the
Water Data Center (WDC), a facility that provides water researchers with
state-of-the-art data publication, discovery, download, re-use, and archiving
capabilities. The WDC is a flagship facility of CUAHSI, an independent
non-profit corporation, and is supported by the National Science Foundation.

advancing water science. This position is outward-looking as well, engaging
other NSF-supported projects and facilities as well as representing the WDC in
national and international standards organizations. The Director will be
advised on informatics issues by a senior software engineer, but will be
responsible for strategic decisions on technical approach, resource
requirements, and prioritization of activities.

The WDC Director reports to the Executive Director of CUAHSI, who provides
budgetary oversight. The incumbent prepares reports for the National Science
Foundation on the operations of the WDC and negotiates the cooperative
agreement funding for the WDC with NSF in consultation with the Executive
Director. The WDC Director is responsible for managing staff (currently 4.2

* Develop and execute business plan for Water Data Center.

Qualifications

* An advanced degree in a water-science discipline with research experience. A
PhD is desirable but candidates holding Masters Degrees with significant
experience will be given full consideration.

* Knowledge of geo-informatics, especially data publication and management

* Personnel management experience

* Knowledge of standards-based, services-oriented architecture is desirable
