Dear Colleagues,
We are writing to ask your help for the family of fellow
ecologist, canopy researcher, and wilderness adventurer Roman
Dial<http://www.nationalgeographic.com/explorers/bios/roman-dial/>. Roman's
son, Cody Roman, went missing in Corcovado National Park, Costa Rica in
mid-July. He had been traveling during a hiatus in his MS program at Alaska
Pacific University. Roman has been in Costa Rica since July 24, working with
local officials and the Red Cross to coordinate the search.

Unfortunately, after a thorough search of some of the most promising areas of
the park with few results, the official search efforts are in a hiatus pending
the development of stronger leads. This is leaving the Dial family to support
on-going efforts through their own funds and with help from friends skilled in
wilderness exploration.
If you feel you are able to contribute to the effort, as noted in the article
from the Alaska Daily News:
'A fund has also been set up to help continue the search. The Dials are asking
that checks be sent to Margaret Dial at Alaska USA Federal Credit Union, PO Box
196613, Anchorage, AK, 99519. All checks must include the memo "Cody Roman Dial
Donation Account."'
Any help passing the word to other friends and colleagues who might be able to
help - either financially or on the ground - would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
