I would like to draw your attention to (yet another) AGU session:
*Organic Matter Cycling at the Soil-Water Interface – Lessons learned from investigations of terrestrial and aquatic organic matter (Session # 2720)* Recent research requires us to change the way we view the source, composition, turnover and persistence of soil organic matter (SOM) and our understanding of the linkages between terrestrial and aquatic organic matter (OM) cycles. The decoupling between molecular structure, age, and predictions of SOM persistence is consistent with aquatic OM composition and age observations in river networks. Knowledge of OM cycling at the soil-water interface is required to predict aquatic C pool response to global change. Furthermore, advances in measuring composition and process rates in aquatic ecosystems can inform studies of dissolved OM in soils. To encourage cross-disciplinary and cross-ecosystem discussions, we seek contributions that link soil and aquatic OM pools, as well as work aimed at understanding the reactivity, transport and persistence of OM within and across the terrestrial and aquatic environments. Studies focused on analytical approaches used to compare characteristics between these OM pools are also encouraged.
