POSITION PROFILE: The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Hydrography and Transportation Geographic Information System (GIS) data sets provide a cornerstone for implementation of the forest practice rules in Washington State. This position is the primary steward for these databases. The DNR Hydrography and Transportation GIS Data Steward interacts with DNR forest practices program staff, the DNR IT Division, DNR GIS users, other governmental agencies, and the general public to maintain hydrography, water typing, and transportation geographic information system (GIS) data. This position coordinates information technology projects related to hydrography, water typing and transportation GIS data development and update efforts. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: *A Bachelor's degree involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, information technology or other allied field. *Four years of experience using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software and relational databases including database design, data production, and quality assurance/quality control, one year of which must be with ESRI ArcGIS. *Working knowledge of basic database management, data modeling, and process modeling principles. *Working experience in information technology project management *Skills in oral and written communication including communication of technical information. *Skills in identifying information technology solutions from an analysis of natural resources business needs.
