Applications are invited for a tenure-track faculty position at the
Instructor 1 level (tenure-track towards Professor of Teaching) in the
Department of Forest and Conservation Sciences, Faculty of Forestry at The
University of British Columbia. The Faculty of Forestry teaches programs in
Natural Resources Conservation, Forest Resources Management, Forest
Sciences, and Wood Science. The department’s research covers the natural
sciences from genomics and genetics through to populations, landscapes and
ecosystems, with a common focus on the forest and its connected systems. A
Ph.D. degree, evidence of excellence in teaching of undergraduate students
in the classroom and in the field, and demonstrated educational leadership
are essential. Experience with mentoring of undergraduate students doing
research projects will be an asset.  Participation in our international
teaching program is required and includes up to three months per year
teaching in China, or other non-Canadian venues.  An international
perspective on forest ecosystems and conservation will be valuable for
contributions to teaching in our professional Master’s degree programs.
Preference will be given to candidates in the following fields:  Forest
ecology and forest biology, soils, dendrology, systematics, and ecosystem
classification, with experience with field-based, experiential learning.
