Interested in studying the behavior, community ecology and/or conservation of birds in the unique environment of tropical China? Our group at the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences, is currently working on projects on the vocalizations of group-living birds, communication between species in fruiting trees, and bird movement patterns in a landscape of rubber plantations and forest fragments. We seek visiting undergraduates who would be interested in working on both field and data analysis aspects of these projects. We can support your costs here if you can fund your own travel. We require 2 months as a minimum time here (e.g., during your summer break). All work is in English, but willingness to learn Chinese language and culture is a big plus. If you're interested, please write [email protected], and attach a CV.
