Ph.D. assistantship Wetlands and Forest Ecology, LSU School of Renewable Natural Resources, Baton Rouge, LA. A Ph.D. assistantship is available to assess the effects of altered hydrologic and geomorphic processes on floodplain forests of the southeastern United States, with a particular emphasis on assessing tree/forest responses to drought and/or altered hydrologic processes. The student will develop their own independent research project while also working within an interdisciplinary team of ecologists, geomorphologists, and hydrologists. Qualifications: Applicants must have an M.S. degree in ecology, forestry, geography, or closely related field. In addition, experience in wetland or forest systems is highly desired. Experience with boats is also highly desirable. Salary: $20,000 per year plus tuition waiver Start Date: Spring or Summer 2014.
