Hello all!
My name is Carolanne and I am a recent graduate from State University of New York at Oswego with a B.A. In Biology. I am posting on this listerserv because I am hoping someone out there needs some assistance on research projects they may be conducting this year. Here's a little bit of background about me: I have interned with a beekeeper for several months learning about hive care and honey production. I also was a teachers assistant for a general invertebrate zoology lab including setting up specimens and helping students. My biggest achievement so far is an extensive independent research project where another student and I collected black legged ticks and then analyzed them using PCR to detect Borrelia (Lyme disease), Babesia microti (babesiosis) and Anaplasma phagocytophilium (HGA). This research has been most of what I've spent the last year doing and under the guidance of our ecology and microbiology professors we are sending a manuscript to a scientific journal for potential publication. Microbiology, zoonotic diseases, human parasites, and disease ecology have been topics I am most passionate about and would love to get more hands on experience in. I have the entire 2014 year free and would love to be apart of someone's project who may deal with any of these topics. If I can be of any help to anyone please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] for further discussion and information. Thank you everyone!
