Position: Postdoctoral Research Associate Location: Aquatic Ecology Lab, The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH
Salary: $45,000 annually, with full benefits; one year with potential for renewal Description: We seek a highly motivated individual to assist with the development of a spatially explicit population model for Asian carp to evaluate various harvest scenario options. This model will facilitate management decisions regarding harvest strategies along the Illinois River as a means to reduce the odds of Asian carp entering the Great Lakes via the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal. This will include parameterization from empirical data, model construction, and scenario simulations to identify optimal harvest strategies while accounting for uncertainty, as well as sensitivity analyses to prioritize future parameter estimations. The incumbent will be supervised by Dr. David Glover and Dr. Libby Marschall and will work closely with researchers from Southern Illinois University, Illinois Department of Natural Resources, among others. Qualifications: A Ph.D. in biological sciences, ecology, mathematical modeling, or related field is required. Familiarity with computer programming, population modeling, Bayesian statistics, optimization modeling, and ability to work independently and collaboratively is highly desired. David C.
