We are pleased to report that in 2013 the Groundwater Wetlands Study Group has grown from about 80 to 180 members in 30 countries. As an unfunded volunteer collaboration, activity and growth of the Study Group is dependent on the membership and over the past year we have seen membership activity increase substantially. In addition, at least three members have been successful in developing sessions on groundwater wetlands, bogs, and related subjects for the massive Joint Aquatic Sciences Meeting scheduled for May 2014 in Portland Oregon. The Study Group was formed as a platform for the consideration and discussion of scientific and technical issues and is neither a social network nor an environmental effort. However, members of the Study Group frequently communicate and have had substantial success on environmental issues. We look forward to increasingly successful 2014.
