Dear Ecolog-Listers: While we are on the topic of textbooks, I have are two questions:
1. *Must* students on financial aid purchase books at the institution's bookstore? If "yes", what is the rationale for this? 2. How often are faculty members dealing with publishers who neither send hard desk copies to them nor allow faculty members to see the digital contents of textbooks they are interested in using? Instead how often are faculty members dealing with publishers who allow faculty members *only* access to the Table of Contents (ToC) and somehow expect faculty members to make the decisions based on the ToC (or order the textbook or get it via interlibrary loan)? In both cases, I have no clue what are the policies and practices out of the USA but would be interested in knowing. Please, feel free to post your reply directly to the list. Thank you. Sincerely, Jorge Jorge A. Santiago-Blay, PhD
