Volunteer opportunity National Park Service National Capital Region - Exotic Plant Management Team
Help gather information on plants that are early detection targets or emerging invasive threats in our region. We are building an updated Early Detection list for the parks we serve and we want to make that list as objective and robust as possible. One important part of this process is to rank nominated species. I have developed a list of 102 species to rank. Natureserve (with TNC and NPS support) has developed a robust protocol for ranking invasive species. Luckily 44 of those taxa have already received a ranking. Volunteers have ranked just about half of the remaining 58 taxa and now I need help to finish the remaining taxa! Each one takes about four hours. For this project and for many other projects I work with volunteers who help me out remotely. Every month or two I send an (invasive-plant-related) project out to one or more volunteers. Even if you can't help now please let me know if you would like to be added to my list of remote volunteers. For more information please contact me at my work email: [email protected]
