I am about to do some home range studies of tree kangaroos in Papua New Guinea. We are tracking 3 animals right now, and may track a few more if we can collar them.
The last study done used Ranges Software (vs. 6 at the time). They calculated home range sizes, core areas of activity, and compared male and female at both sizes (whole range and core area). They used Harmonic Mean, Kernel, and Minimum Convex Polygons to evaluate. I was thinking I would do something similar (to compare the new data at a new elevation). Because I have to buy whatever software we use, I wanted to get some opinions before just buying Ranges again (v. 8 now, I guess). Advice appreciated!
