Assistant Professor, Marine Microbial Ecology 
The University of Texas at Austin, Marine Science Institute, invites 
applications for a tenure track faculty position to begin as early as Fall 
2014. We seek a microbial ecologist who studies heterotrophic microbes at 
scales from the molecular to ecosystem level, including: biodiversity, 
community structure, trophic relationships, biogeochemistry, and pathogenesis 
in marine systems. 

Assistant Professor, Fisheries Ecology 
The University of Texas at Austin, Marine Science Institute, invites 
applications for a tenure track faculty position to begin as early as Fall 
2014. We seek a quantitative fisheries ecologist who conducts field-based 
research in areas such as population dynamics, recruitment, connectivity, or 
marine-protected areas on fish species of commercial and recreational 
importance.

All candidates must have a PhD in Marine Science or a relevant field; 
postdoctoral research and teaching experience are strongly preferred. The 
position will be filled at the Assistant Professor level. 
The position is located at the Marine Science Institute in Port Aransas, Texas, 
which offers excellent shoreside laboratory facilities in close proximity to a 
variety of unique estuarine and coastal habitats, including the 185,708-acre 
NOAA Mission-Aransas National Estuarine Research Reserve. The Institute also 
has well developed marine education and outreach infrastructure for 
disseminating research. The successful applicant will be expected to establish 
an externally funded independent research program, provide excellent training 
for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, and contribute to undergraduate 
and graduate teaching in the department. Faculty members commit three-quarter 
time to research and one-quarter time to teaching.
