Positions are available for Master’s and Ph.D. students in the Gallagher
Laboratory. Our research uses the natural genetic variation in S.
cerevisiae to uncover the genetic basis of phenotypic variation in response
to environmental toxins, such as fungicides and herbicides using classical
genetics, next generation sequencing of genomes and transcriptomes, whole-
cell proteomics and mapping of post-translational modifications. The minimum
requirements are a B.A. or B.S. in biology/ genetics/ biochemistry/
bioinformatics or related area, excellent oral and written communication
skills, and demonstrated ability to work effectively with others. Strong
bioinformatic skills are also highly desirable. Applicants must apply to
the Biology Department at WVU for consideration, submit GRE and TOEFL scores
for non-native English speakers. Interested students should visit
http://biology.wvu.edu/graduate for additional information. Students
interested in applying to the graduate program as a student in the Gallagher
lab must contact Dr. Gallagher prior to submitting an application to the
department. Please email an undergraduate transcript, a CV with contact
information for three references and a brief summary of research interests
to Dr. Gallagher at [email protected]
