Postdoctoral Position in Agroecology Department of Agronomy and Plant Genetics
University of Minnesota -- Twin Cities The University of Minnesota seeks a broadly trained, agroecology-oriented scientist to fill a two-year postdoctoral associate position on the Saint Paul campus. This person will participate in a USDA-funded project *Precision Zonal Management Systems for Resilient Cereal Yields and Ecosystem Services Under Variable Climates*. Precision zonal management (PZM) aims to provide new field management options for achieving high grain yields while also improving key processes that affect agroecological functioning of soils in variable climates that may be associated with climate change. This scientist will focus on analysis and interpretation of datasets on the performance of experimental PZM systems established in PA, IL, MI and MN, but there are also opportunities to participate in field and laboratory research related to these systems. This position is based in Nick Jordan’s lab in the Department of Agronomy and Plant Genetics, but will involve interactions with a highly-multidisciplinary project team at multiple land-grant universities. Required qualifications include: (1) a PhD in agroecology, agronomy, soil science, or a related discipline, (2) experience and interest in integrative agroecological research, 3) substantial experience and interest in management and statistical analysis of complex datasets. The start date is flexible and can be as soon as September 30, 2013. Salary and benefits are competitive. Applicants should e-mail a single pdf file that includes a letter of interest, CV, and contact information for three references to Nick Jordan (*[email protected]*). Please use an email subject line of, “UMN PZM Postdoc Application”. Review of applications will begin immediately; however, applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
