Hi Ecolog,

I just had the good fortune of participating in an Environmental Information
Management
course at UNM. Teaching a topic is always an illuminating experience because
explaining is
sometimes more challenging than doing. My job was to cover systematic reviews
and
meta-analyses. Here the slide decks I used if anyone else needs materials for
this topic:

To cover the meta-analysis part, we used the new handbook for ecologists on the
topic:

However, a few of the students also suggested that editorial style summaries
would be
useful. I was working on two at the time and this gave me the impetus to finish
them.

As an experiment with friendly review, I posted them to PeerJ Preprints. If you
have a sec
and are interested in synthesis or meta-analyses, please give them a skim as I
would
appreciate feedback before I move forward.

Thanks so much!
Also, if you are interested in discussing this pre-print experiment, pop me a
note too.
cheers,
chris.
