Ethically, Paul, there's a lot to be said for keeping our side of the
street clean.
Economically, there's a lot to be said for creating a demand for
fuel-efficient mass transit systems.
Your math, even if right, fails to address either. Your sense of
history is an epic fail. As someone once wrote, the journey of a
thousand miles begins with a single step. There are plenty of examples
where things looked just as hopeless as you would have us believe, but a
handful of people decided to do what they thought was the right thing
anyway and they changed the world.
