2013-2014 Dannon Yogurt and Probiotics Fellowship Program
The Dannon Company is pleased to announce that applications for the
second Dannon Yogurt and Probiotics Fellowship Program are currently
being accepted until April 30, 2013. This year's fellowship program
has been expanded to support the education of a student who shows a
strong interest in the research of nutritional and functional
benefits of both yogurt and probiotics. The winning applicant (one)
will receive a scholarship of $25,000, payable to the educational
institution either for tuition, or research related projects or as
otherwise allocated at The Dannon Company's discretion-to enhance his
or her academic path in this field during the 2013-2014 academic
year. Dannon is proud to support the future generations of
researchers and scientists in these evolving and exciting fields as
part of their commitment to education and scientific research.
To qualify, applicants must meet the following requirements:
* Be a current United States citizen (proof of citizenship is
required) or permanent U.S. resident (proof of residency is required)
* Be a current full-time enrolled undergraduate or graduate
student, 18 years of age or older, studying relevant field during the
2013-2014 academic year at an accredited U.S. Institution
* Note, only students who will fall within the following
education levels in August 2013 will be considered:
* Incoming or Current Graduate students with declared,
relevant focus in the field.
* Undergraduate seniors with declared, relevant major and
proof of intended graduate study within the field during the
2013-2014 academic school year are welcome to apply. Proof of
graduate school application(s) from the graduate program is required.
* Be in good standing with their college / institution
* Receive a nomination and recommendation from two professors
* Submit a written statement on how he/she would like to broaden
his/her knowledge of yogurt and/or probiotics (nutritional or
functional benefits)
Scholarship applications are now being accepted, and must be
submitted by April 30, 2013 to qualify. The winning applicant will be
determined by a panel of judges, including:
Dr. Mary Ellen Sanders, Dairy and Food Culture Technologies
Consultant, and Executive Director of the International Scientific
Association of Probiotics and Prebiotics (ISAPP)
Daniel Merenstein, MD, Associate Professor and Director of Research
Programs at the Departments of Family Medicine at the Georgetown
University Medical Center
Keri Glassman, nationally recognized dietitian and founder and
president of Nutritious Life.
Dr. Patrick Veiga, Senior Scientist, Danone Research Center
Dr. Miguel Freitas, Director of Health Affairs, The Dannon Company
