Toledo Institute for Development and Environment, Belize.

The Toledo Institute for Development and Environment (TIDE) is a

non-governmental organisation working with local communities to protect

some of the most pristine coastal and marine ecosystems in Central

America, including the healthiest coral reef in the whole Mesoamerican

Barrier Reef system.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and qualified individual to fulfil the role

of Science Communications Officer at our office in Punta Gorda, Belize.

The Science Communications Officer will work under the supervision of the

Science Director to support all activities of the Research and Monitoring

Department at TIDE. Activities include marine and terrestrial fieldwork,

laboratory work, reviewing scientific literature, database management, GIS

mapping, data analysis, interpretation and reporting, social media and web

content management, and production of media materials. The successful

applicant will also assist in the development of monitoring programs and

facilitate capacity building for TIDE’s up-and-coming group volunteer

programme.

This offers to be a very rewarding role with scope to specialise in

further areas upon arrival, based on your preferences and skills. The

role is voluntary so eligible candidates would need to be able to support

themselves for a minimum commitment of six months.
