Internship opportunity: Science Communications Officer Toledo Institute for Development and Environment, Belize.
The Toledo Institute for Development and Environment (TIDE) is a non-governmental organisation working with local communities to protect some of the most pristine coastal and marine ecosystems in Central America, including the healthiest coral reef in the whole Mesoamerican Barrier Reef system. We are seeking an enthusiastic and qualified individual to fulfil the role of Science Communications Officer at our office in Punta Gorda, Belize. The Science Communications Officer will work under the supervision of the Science Director to support all activities of the Research and Monitoring Department at TIDE. Activities include marine and terrestrial fieldwork, laboratory work, reviewing scientific literature, database management, GIS mapping, data analysis, interpretation and reporting, social media and web content management, and production of media materials. The successful applicant will also assist in the development of monitoring programs and facilitate capacity building for TIDE’s up-and-coming group volunteer programme. This offers to be a very rewarding role with scope to specialise in further areas upon arrival, based on your preferences and skills. The role is voluntary so eligible candidates would need to be able to support themselves for a minimum commitment of six months.
