A postdoctoral position is available at the Community Dynamics group at the
Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology
(http://www.evolbio.mpg.de/comdyn). The position is part of a project to
study eco-evolutionary feedback dynamics using plankton communities. The
successful applicant will be working on the genotype-phenotype interactions
in our experimental predator-prey and host-parasite system (using
transcriptome and genome analysis). The overall aim is to link gene, trait,
populations and community dynamics to improve our understanding of ecology
and evolution and their feedback.

Highly motivated candidates with a Ph. D. degree in evolutionary biology or
ecology with a strong record of scientific publications are welcome to
apply. A background in evolutionary genomics, bio-informatics or population
genetics is highly desirable.

Our group is part of the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology in
Plön. The institute offers a stimulating international environment and an
excellent infrastructure allowing for the most recent techniques. The town
of Plön is in the middle of the Schleswig-Holstein lake-district within a
very attractive and touristic environment near the Baltic Sea, close to the
university towns of Lübeck and Kiel.

Starting dates are flexible, from November 2012 onwards. The position is
funded for 2 years. Informal enquiries can be made to
[email protected]. Applicants should send their CV, list of
publications, statement of research interests, and contact information of 2
referees as a single PDF to Lutz Becks ([email protected]). In the
cover letter, applicants should describe their background in evolutionary
biology and experience with genomic data. Review of applications will
continue until the position is filled. The Max Planck Society is an equal
opportunity employer.
