Greetings all,

I am looking at putting together a study abroad internship proposal for my
graduate school. I'm looking for places in Central and South America that
are dedicated either to in-situ or ex-situ conservation of reptiles and
amphibians. They can either be specialist organizations (only dealing with
snakes, frogs, turtles, etc), or perhaps a zoo with a decent
reptile/amphibian collection.

I have recently finished volunteering for two months at the Panama Amphibian
Rescue and Conservation project in Gamboa, Panama. I am looking at the
possibility of returning, but also want to look at other organizations.

My goals are as follows:

1. Continue to gain hands-on experience in reptile and amphibian
conservation (specifically, I am looking to expand, as the majority of my
experience is with lizards and amphibians- I'd also like to work with
snakes, crocodilians, and turtles).

2. One of my interests is how the local customs, culture, politics, and
economy influence attitudes towards conservation, so I'd want to work with a
staff willing to discuss the challenges they face at their particular
project, and how they have adapted to those challenges.

Any suggestions for projects, along with contact information if you have it,
are welcome. Thank you in advance.
