Dear Scientific Community

I'm sending this e-mail because my sister brought to my attention an issue
that maybe you could be interested to help with. Seems like
the spectacular bio-luminescent lagoon located close to Falmouth, Jamaica,
and connected to Oyster Bay - where the lagoon exchanges water and also
dinoflagellates (the ones who produced the luminescent effect) - has been
impacted for the construction of the cruise ship facility where they
discharge their waste into the Ocean.

We are trying to help this Jamaican community because they are worry about
the decrease in the luminosity of the lagoon and also about the health of
the lagoon populations.
Therefore, We are trying to find out if somebody has information about
studies about in this particular lagoon after 2009 and if there is an
organization willing to do assessments and help this town to stand up in
front of this big corporation of Cruise lines which just care about their
profits and not about the their impacts of the Caribbean ecosystems and the
people who inhabit them.

We will be very grateful for any information you can provide us.

Thank you very much

Natalia Quinteros
