Hi Emily: As you know, hygrochrons have a humidity port that requires connectivity to air/soil....so plasti-dip, and the like will not work as they do with thermochrons.
I had success wrapping each hygrochron in Typar<http://typar.com/builder/products/housewrap/>, secured in place with a small 4" zip-tie, and plasti-dipping the back of the unit (the non-port side). I then suspended each hygrochron, via hot glue, from the inside roof of a 1'' plastic capsule (I pre-drilled holes in the sides and lid to facilitate air exchange). Lastly, I installed the capsules lid-side down so that any water drained out the bottom. Feel free to email me if you'd like pics for clarification. Hope this helps....good luck!
