Summer 2012 is your chance to enroll in an exciting new course for
educators and other college students at Eastern Michigan University's new
Parsons Center for the Study of Art and Science near Traverse City.

"Unique Michigan" course, June 14 -16 – Experience many beautiful and
interesting sites in northwestern Lower Michigan in this course. For
instance, you will learn about: the Great Lakes by spending a half day on a
144-foot schooner on Grand Traverse Bay, prairie habitat and restoration
efforts through a visit to a site in the Leelanau Peninsula, shoreline
geology and ecology by walking the Lake Michigan beach while looking for
birds as well as unique Leland Blue stones; Michigan's natural and
commercial fisheries through a visit to a historical/commercial fishery;
etc. as part of the "Unique Michigan" class. Teachers and education
students will find many opportunities to inject Michigan examples into
their own courses, and help their students understand how unique Michigan
really is. Offered for two undergraduate or graduate credit hours; or for
six SB-CEUs.
