Hi,

We are looking for qualified candidates to fill a GS-0480-13/14 Fish and
Wildlife Administrator position. This is an exciting opportunity to become
involved as the Science Coordinator of the Caribbean Landscape Conservation
Cooperative (CLCC).

NOTE: The announcement at the link below is for federal employees, a further
announcement to include non federal employees will be coming out shortly. The
announcement is also for two science coordinator positions - one in Puerto Rico
and one in Florida.

The announcement is available for viewing at http://www.usajobs.opm.gov OR
http://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/316468300?share=email

The CLCC Science Coordinator will be co-located with the US Forest Service
International Institute of Tropical Forestry (IITF) in Río Piedras, Puerto
Rico. The IITF serves as the coordinating organization for the CLCC under the
direction of the CLCC coordinator. The Science Coordinator will work out of the
IITF offices where the CLCC staff, including the coordinator, science
coordinator, partnership and outreach coordinator, administrative assistant,
GIS and database technicians, and associated researchers are located.

The Caribbean Islands Landscape Conservation Cooperative (CLCC) is part of a
national network of Landscape Conservation Cooperatives (LCCs). The LCCs are
applied conservation science partnerships among state and federal agencies,
regional organizations, tribes, NGOs, universities and other entities within a
geographic area. They are designed to inform resource management decisions in
an integrated fashion across landscapes - at a broader scale than any
individual partner's responsibility. The partnership considers landscape-scale
stressors including climate change, habitat fragmentation, urban sprawl,
invasive species, and water availability in order to assess the conservation
status of species and habitats and provide a vision for sustainable land and
seascapes under future scenarios. The CLCC includes the terrestrial and marine
components of the Puerto Rican archipelago and the U.S. Virgin Islands and has
the capacity to work internationally.

The primary goal of the Science Coordinator, working with the Coordinator and
CLCC partners, will be to encourage research collaboration and build a strong
science program on which to assess future landscape scenarios, assess natural
and cultural resource vulnerabilities, develop monitoring of environmental
responses to changing climate and land use, develop monitoring of conservation
effectiveness for adaptive management, and leverage science capacity of the
Cooperative and partners. The Science Coordinator will collaborate with other
LCC science coordinators from the Southeast Region, with the 22 LCC science
coordinators around the nation, as well as the USGS Climate Science Centers to
communicate the science needs of the CLCC, develop requests for proposals,
assess proposals, and synthesis and apply the results of relevant research to
current and potential resource management issues.
