Applications are being accepted for the position of Program Manager
(Senior Research Fellow or Postdoctoral Fellow Level) for the
Northeast Climate Science Center (NECSC). Website:

The NESCS is led by UMass and consists of the College of Menominee
Nation, Columbia University, the Marine Biology Laboratory, the
University of Minnesota, the University of Missouri Columbia and the
University of Wisconsin Madison.
This position will be funded at a 50% level for 4 years, with full
benefits. The annual salary at 50% time will be approximately
$30,000, depending on experience.
The NECSC will develop stakeholder-driven research and decision
support for assisting landscape and watershed management in the face
of climate variability and climate change. NECSC activities will
include developing and integrating future scenarios of climate,
hydrology, landscape and resource management change in the region,
including the 22 states that compose the Northeast (the general
region running from Maine to Virginia to Missouri to Michigan and
back to Maine).
The successful candidate must understand research goals, collect
data, draw valid conclusions, summarize research results for
publication and presentation at meetings and conferences and have the
ability to apply principles of logical and/or scientific thinking to
a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. The candidate
must have the ability to interpret technical instruction and be able
to implement action plans for projects and constructively think about
alternative approaches.
Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in an area of
natural sciences, engineering or social sciences or other relevant
discipline or a Master's degree in a similar discipline, with direct
professional experience in climate change assessment. The candidate
should have familiarity with basic climate science, the ability to
articulate knowledge of relevant literature, the ability to manage
and coordinate a multi-investigator, multi-institutional,
interdisciplinary research effort, demonstrate excellent oral and
written communication skills and have an understanding of the process
of conducting, conveying and publishing interdisciplinary research
and the ability to manage complex budgets. Experience or aptitude for
managing and updating website content is also required.
