I have gotten some responses already and everything seems to be anecdotal.  I
am going to go ahead and put together a survey to collect the data so I can
summarize it in a publication.  So go ahead and hold off on your response
(unless you know of a paper).  And I will get back to you again with the survey.

Thanks!

Subject: [ECOLOG-L] ungulates and plastic

Does anyone out there know of papers that address, or even note, ungulates
eating plastic?  Many of us have had the problem of cows or elk eating
plastic flagging or the tops off of pin flags, but I am having a difficult
time finding mention of this in papers or books.  Fred Provenza mentions
this in some of his work, but that is about all I have found – that and a
paper saying moose didn’t eat plastic flagging.

Thanks in advance.  If there is any interest, I will post the results to
the list.
