“Understanding Plant Invasions in a changing world”

Sault Ste. Marie, Canada | August 20-22, 2012

Request for Papers

The TIPS Organizing Committee is now accepting abstracts for oral and poster
presentations. Visit www.tipsconf.ca to view the full request for papers.

This year’s TIPS Conference will take place at the Delta Waterfront Hotel
from August 20-22. The Keynote speaker is Dr. Daniel Simberloff, the Nancy
Gore Hunger Professor of Environmental Science and founder of The Institute
of Biological Invasions at the university of Tennessee in Knoxville.

Abstracts that address the six terrestrial invasive plant species themes
(Current State of Terrestrial Invasive Plants in Ontario, Prevention, Early
Detection, Aggressive Control for Possible Eradication, Environmental and
Ecological Impacts, and Ongoing Control and Ecological Restoration) and are
directly or indirectly relevant to Ontario are especially encouraged and
will have priority in the meeting program, but submissions may also address
any aspect of the biology and ecology of terrestrial invasive plant species.

TIPS is an international conference on invasive terrestrial plants that will:

• address contemporary issues in the field of terrestrial invasive plant
and
associated microbial species biology and ecology;
• focus on science findings relevant to Ontario with the opportunity to
showcase findings from other jurisdictions that are relevant to Ontario;
• provide a forum for scientists, managers, policy makers and members of
related disciplines to present original research/findings;
• include all terrestrial natural ecosystems and urban (e.g., forests,
grasslands, riparian zones);
• consider agriculture only in regard to crops, microbial plant pathogens
and/or weeds that may escape into natural habitats; and
• provide an opportunity for managers and policy makers to hear the latest
developments.
