An exciting new position is listed below.  Though not specifically stated in 
the formal ad below, if a biologist is hired for the position his/her 
departmental home would be in the Biology Department allowing them to 
recruit both Masters and Doctoral students.

The College of Arts and Sciences of University of South Dakota is in the 
process of adding a sustainability major and invites applications for a 
full-time tenure-track faculty member to promote and grow a sustainability 
major at USD, teach courses within the program, and contribute to broader 
campus initiatives related to sustainability. 

The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. in a relevant field, along 
with demonstrated teaching and research interests in sustainability. 
Candidates from a variety of disciplines in the natural sciences, 
environmental sciences, and social sciences are encouraged to apply; 
however, preference will be given to candidates who hold a Ph.D. in 
Sustainability or have professional experience in a sustainability program. 
The major being designed is broadly interdisciplinary in nature, with both 
B.A. and B.S. options for students. We are open to various models of 
appointment, including a joint appointment or an appointment in a home 
department. Excellence in teaching is expected, both in the classroom and in 
mentoring students outside of the classroom.
