Chris and Ecolog:

I believe that intellectual intercourse should be based on love of knowledge and freely sharing; hence that money should not change hands as a condition of any such acts. This is a primary reason why I regret the trend toward making profit centers out of the exchange of ideas and information, and charging for peer reviews can only push the trend in the direction of prostitution, with a concomitant loss of credibility and gain of disrepute.

PS: For these reasons and because I don't place much credence in opinions and opinion surveys, I have not responded to this request. If I knew more about what Lortie was trying to accomplish, I might change my mind.
