CALL FOR EXAMPLES OF CORRIDOR RESTORATION

Ecological Restoration is planning a Special Issue for later this year on
the “Ecological restoration of habitat corridors,” at all scales. The use
of, and interest in, corridors as a remedy for wide-scale habitat
fragmentation has attracted much attention. Corridors are being considered
from the small scale (road crossings, avoidance of dams) to very large
landscapes (continental-scale corridors that may facilitate life history
needs of migratory and wide-ranging species). This Special Issue will have
reviews of current approaches to corridor functioning and implementation, as
well as papers on modern designs of corridors.

We now seek examples from practitioners of designed and built habitat
corridors that can express the current state of the art of habitat design
and functioning. We are also interested in examples of older corridors,
where performance monitoring has been conducted. These restoration notes
usually have a maximum length of 1,500 words, with 2 illustrations. We would
appreciate submissions by April 1, 2012. Manuscripts should be submitted
through our online portal at http://er.msubmit.net. The journal's preferred
style and formatting can be found at http://er.uwpress.org.

Please contact the Editorial Office [email protected] if you have
any questions about potential contributions.

This is an opportunity to communicate your corridor work and lessons learned
to the restoration community and also to solicit useful advice.
