The community college where I teach is re-examining the list of General
Education courses required for graduation. One course that has been given
specific scrutiny is Health Science. On our campus, this course is taught in
the Biology Department and is currently required for graduation. Some are
interested in removing it from the mandated GE list. I’m wondering how many
other schools have a health course as part of their GE (breadth, core)
requirement for graduation.

As a result of searching a few schools online, I found that many schools have a
PE requirement. In many cases, one of the two courses required is a general
health course (the other is typically a movement course).

If you are affiliated with college or university, would you please answer the
following questions for me:

Does your campus require a general health course of some kind? (yes or no)
If yes, in which department is the course offered?
Does your campus require a PE movement course?

I'm happy to provide the summary of the results I receive if people are
interested, so feel free to email me directly.

Thanks!

Virginia White
