Hello Wayne, G2 and others, I know nothing about this position but based on a lot of criticism in the past (from people inside as well as outside the government) about long hiring times, many USFS jobs are now being hired under an 80 day policy which means 80 days from the time the paperwork gets to HR to the time the new hire reports to work. That has resulted in shorter advertisement periods. The intent is not to limit applicants but to speed up the hiring process. Supervisors should begin outreach activities before the 80 day clock starts but some additional outreach may happen once the actual job is posted as it is convenient to include the link to the announcement.

What they have everything to do with is getting people on board before drastic budget cuts occur so that you don't automatically lose funding by having money sitting around for an unfilled position. cheers, g2 On Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 12:32 AM, Wayne Tyson <[email protected]> wrote: > Hmmmm--I'd be willing to bet there's a fair-haired boy or girl waiting > in the wings and that it would be a waste of time to apply.
