Happy week after for those that went to ESA,

I hope that you have returned safely to your respective home, states,
institutions where it is
not over 100 F. Today it cooled down in Georgetown (25 miles north of
Austin) to a nice 101.
Despite the heat, I hope that you had a great meeting.

*Now I have a question for you --- Did you get your "start" in undergraduate
research???*

If so, we (the Researchers at Primarily Undergraduate Institutions Section)
would love to have a picture of your
early days. We would also appreciate any cool pictures of ecology
professionals currently working with undergraduate students.

*Why do we ask? *Our section really loved the display from the new Natural
History Section and we would like to do
something similar in Portland and feature a photo from those good ole
undergraduate days. Or, if you are at a primarily undergraduate
institutions (PUI) and have those days often, current photos would be
appreciated as well as we work to revamp our website.

Note - these will go into a gallery and perhaps be snatched up by some other
section of the ESA webpage.

Send along to [email protected] (to account for size) with the following
metadata:

   1. Your name
   2. 2-3 sentence description of the picture (i.e. what are you doing, who
   are you with?)
   3. Date of the picture
   4. Undergraduate Institution or Research Site
   5. Your current title/position

Send pictures of reasonably high quality so that they look on a webpage. We
can always reduce
the resolution if needed.

As one additional plug, you do not have to currently be at a PUI to support
research initiatives
at such institutions or benefit from the collective knowledge we have about
how to effectively conduct
research with undergraduates. And, if you are a faculty at a PUI, then we
would love to have your
voice and participation. *Please consider joining the R-PUI Section - even
before you need to
renew your ESA membership.
*
You can do that by cutting/pasting this link:

https://eservices.esa.org/services/source/security/member-logon.cfm?section=home

Log in with your LAST NAME and your ESAID Number (6 digit number on your
Frontiers subscription)
and then follow the prompts until you get to adding sections.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
