I have taken photographs of macroalgae with a metric scale in the background. From these photographs I would like to calculate the area of the algal blade using computer software. I was wondering if anyone could suggest any software (preferably free) to measure blade area? I have found a few options online but one is for PCs only (I am using a mac) and another requires java programming.
