Hello Ecologgers, I'd like to invite you to visit my new blog on art + the science of biology called 'biocreativity' (biocreativity.wordpress.com). I have a background in both ecology and the arts, and my blog explores the interrelatedness of the arts + sciences. Because there is such a large and beautiful continuum of scientist-artists (or artist-scientists, if you prefer) out there, this blog focuses more closely on the relationship between the arts, the biological sciences + nature. Hence, biocreativity is any activity that combines these subjects through content, purpose, craft or materials.
I'll be covering several biocreative events at the upcoming ESA 2011 meeting in Austin. If you are hosting a biocreative event at the upcoming meeting, or if you've got an interesting project going on in the biocreative realm, I'd love to cover it and use the meeting as an opportunity to conduct interviews. If you observe good examples of biocreativity going on at the meeting (or in your hometowns, at work, on your travels, etc.), please send me an email at [email protected] or add #biocreativity (and #ESA11, if it's at the meeting) hashtags to a tweet. You can also follow @biocreativity on twitter. If any of you are biocreative types yourselves, or know others who are, please let me know about them so I can feature their work in future posts. Can't wait to hear your diverse perspectives from your positions along the biocreativity continuum! Most Sincerely, Hayley Gillespie, PhD biocreativity.wordpress.com [email protected] @biocreativity on twitter
