Dear Colleagues:
Please consider submitting an abstract to the session on "Global Hydrologic Changes: Implications to Food and Fresh Water Security (GC-48) " for the AGU2011 Fall Meeting to be held in San Francisco December 5-9, 2011. GC48: Climate Change, Food and Water 1. Global Hydrologic Changes: Implications to Food and Fresh Water Security *Sponsor:* Global Environmental Change (GC) *Co-Sponsor(s):* Hydrology (H) *Description:* Global food and water security is essential for human well-being. Recent global and regional environmental changes related to climate and land use will affect food and fresh water security. This session focuses on the major drivers of food and water insecurity. We encourage submissions on: (i) new approaches for prediction, modeling, and analysis of drought and floods, (ii) observations indicating threats to food and water security, (iii) water management approaches for sustainable agriculture, (iv) techniques to quantify the impacts of climate variability and change on crop yields, and (iii) new mitigation approaches to reduce the risk of food and water insecurity under present and projected climate change.
