Availability: The closing date is 20 May 2011. The position is for two years (two, one-year appointments at each institution). Requirements: Ph.D. in forest ecology, forestry, ecosystem ecology or a related field. Expertise and experience: Extensive quantitative skills, with experience in phylogenetic and/or Bayesian analyses We seek a post-doctoral fellow to explore relationships among phylogeny, functional traits, and performance of forest trees. The successful applicant will have extensive quantitative skills, with experience in phylogenetic and/or Bayesian analyses. Scientists working with the Center for Tropical Forest Science (http://www.sigeo.si.edu/) have compiled data, which includes bar code phylogenies, functional traits, and rates of recruitment, growth and mortality for several thousand tree species. The position will be divided approximately equally between the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute and the University of Minnesota and will be hired by each institution for one year or so each.
