The standard intro text for forestry is probably Avery and Burkhart's
Forest Measurements (McGraw-Hill)--it's the one I use in my Natural
Resources Inventory class but you might find "Sampling Techniques for
Forest Resource Inventory" by Shiver and Borders useful as well.

Subject: [ECOLOG-L] Forest methods reference

I am looking for a good reference on forestry methods that describes
field methods as well as methods to analyze data. I have used the
following:

Mueller Dombois - Aims and Methods of Vegetation Ecology

Krebs - Ecological Methodology

Husch, Beers and Kershaw - Forest Mensuration

None of these cover all the methods I am interested in. Any
recommendations would be much appreciated. Thanks.
