Bioquip has some reasonable scopes. Also check the used scope sales from your local university. I bought one at UCDavis Bargain barn that suited me fine. The Russian Lomo scopes MBC-10 have some advantages including the option of adding a camera lens to the system. They are idiosyncratic though. Also important is your lighting. ebay is a source for cheap LED rings that can fit some scopes. More expensive, but very useful are light fiber lamps. Get a lamp with 2 tips. Bioquip has a decent example.
