I am currently assisting in the restoration/creation of a wetland found
in southwest Arizona along the lower Colorado River. Part of this effort
is also incorporating some sort of recreational use of the area by
creating trails. I was wondering if anyone has information on what type
of rock would be recommended for these trails and which I should stay
away from? Current plans for the trails call for using decomposed
granite, but my concerns are using some type of material that may alter
some element of the wetland such as its pH or salinity etc... I recall
in the past reading an article where a constructed gravel road adjacent
to a wetland significantly altered the wetlands water chemistry after
heavy rainfall, but I have unfortunately been unable to track it down.

Any information or suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Tab Bommarito
