GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS IN FOREST ECOLOGY

DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY AND NATURAL RESOURCES, PURDUE UNIVERSITY,
WEST LAFAYETTE, INDIANA

We are currently seeking M.S. and Ph.D. students to begin work on a multi-
state study of old-growth forests across the Central Hardwood Region.  
This project will use data from a network of permanent plots to examine 
long-term forest change and carbon budgets in Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, 
Iowa, and Arkansas.   

Positions are available beginning January 2011.  The assistantships 
include tuition and a competitive stipend. 

Applicants should have a strong background in field ecology. Qualified 
candidates should have a B.S. or M.S. in forestry, botany/plant ecology, 
biology, wildlife science, geography, or a related discipline. A basic 
familiarity with plant species identification and some prior coursework in 
statistics and GIS are preferred.
