Assistant Unit Leader
South Dakota Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit
Wildlife Biologist or Ecologist


The U.S. Geological Survey Cooperative Research Units Program is filling the 
Assistant Unit Leader position (Wildlife or Ecology) at the South Dakota 
Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit in Brookings, South Dakota.   The 
position requires a working knowledge of wildlife ecology with an emphasis on 
landscape ecology, including climate change impacts on terrestrial or wetland 
systems. Spatial analysis, structured decision making and adaptive management 
processes are expected to be used in developing research protocols to address 
natural resource issues.  The position provides opportunities for collaborative 
research with scientists at the USGS EROS Data Center in Sioux Falls, SD and 
the Geographic Information Center of Excellence at South Dakota State 
University.  The incumbent serves as a member of the Graduate faculty in the 
Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences at South Dakota State University 
and teaches formal courses at the graduate level in his/her research specialty.
