One of the standing committees of the Ecological Society of America is the Historical Records Committee. Tasks for this committee include the preservation of information about the history, development, and successes of the Society, such as decisions about what should be preserved, how, and where (most records have been archived so far at the University of Georgia). The gathering of information about prominent past members of the Society is also done by this committee. The committee's work will become even more important as the Society approaches its 100th anniversary, in 2015, as a significant component of that celebration will be consideration of how the Society has achieved its current success. If you are interested in contributing to this committee, or know of members who might be, please let me know. The committee will be meeting for an hour on Thursday morning at the annual meeting.
