USGS is seeking one volunteer research assistant for studies on 
reproductive success and spatial distribution of greater sage-grouse in 
western Nevada. This position is full-time with a term of approximately 
March 15th through August 31st (start date is flexible). Incumbents will 
assist in the capture and radio-marking of greater sage-grouse. Primary 
duties include the use of radiotelemetry and GPS equipment to obtain 
spatio-temporal distribution, timing of behavioral changes, nesting, brood 
rearing and survival data. 4WDs and ATVs will be employed during data 
collection. Other duties consist of assuring data quality and completion 
of data entry using MS Access and ArcGIS. Team members will be responsible 
for the operation and functioning of nest site videography equipment, 
vehicles and radiotelemetry equipment. Research will be conducted during 
all types of weather in remote locations. The majority of field work is 
located in/near the Virginia Mountains in western Nevada, approximately 45 
miles north of Reno and 10 miles west of Pyramid Lake. Stipend ~ $800.00+
